Ocracoke is worth every mile to reach
Reachable only by ferry, private boat, or small plane
It takes a little more effort to get here — that's exactly why it stays quiet. Here's how travelers reach the island, plus the questions we're asked most.

By Car + Ferry
Three ferry routes serve Ocracoke. The Hatteras crossing runs frequently, is free, and operates first-come, first-served. The Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries require reservations and involve longer mainland crossings.
By Private Flight (W95)
Flying in? We coordinate shuttle service from Ocracoke's own airstrip. Norfolk (ORF) and New Bern (EWN) are the nearest commercial gateways if you're not flying private.
